Why Salespersons Should Become Brokers!

It Has Long Been A Mantra Of Mine That You Should Become A Broker

Even if you never intend to operate your own brokerage.  Licensees always say that I have a  hidden agenda.  More Broker Courses – More Money for Duane.  That is not a hidden agenda, that is right up front, but I still can be sincere about my mantra.

We have a flyer on our website (www.duanegomer.com) that has several reasons.

I Will Summarize Some Of These Reasons To Become a Broker:

  1.  Money:  Broker Associates average more income over a career.
  2.  Flexibility:  If an opportunity arises, you are ready.
  3.  Liability:  There is no more liability for Broker Associates.  A myth.
  4.  Double Duty:  You can work for more than one broker, for example, Sales and PM.
  5.  Retirement:  It does come, and you could get referrals and not have to share with a Broker.
  6.  Passing Grades:  Highest I have every remembered.
  7.  Education:  Would studying and testing cause you permanent damage?
  8.  Experience:  Only two years required and Escrow, Loan Officer, Subdivider, Contractor, Speculative  Builder, and appraisal experience can be used.
  9.  Payment Plan:  Pay as you go with Duane Gomer Education.
  10.  For more information or to register contact: 800.439.4909, or [email protected], or 23312 Madero,
    Mission Viejo, CA  92691.

See you in class.

I wish I had known this a long time ago. I thought there was more liability and never thought about not having to share commissions with the Broker. Been licensed in CA for almost 28 years. Retired now but keeping my license current just because it is who I am. Fortunately don’t need to work or the money.

Yes, I wish that you would have become a Broker sooner too. It does have so many advantages, and there is sure nothing wrong with becoming more educated. Good luck in your retirement.

      Hi Arabella,

To become a broker, you must meet education and experience requirements to be eligible to take the Broker Exam. For the education aspect, you need to complete 8 courses; any courses you took to be eligible for the Salesperson license qualify for the Broker requirements too, so you do not need to repeat any courses you have taken in the past. For the experience requirements, you must have been working for the equivalent of 2 years, full-time, within the last 5 years. If you are unsure of which courses you took for your Salesperson license or to further assess if you have any courses from college that could qualify towards the 8 education requirements, please give our office a call at (800) 439-4909 and we will gladly assist you.
