Do You Want To Be Robbed?

Friends Of Mine Returned From A Recent Trip To Palm Desert And Found That They Had Become A Crime Statistic

The one that says that there is a robbery every 12 seconds in the U S of A.

Some scary and interesting factors in their case.  When they moved into their garage, they noticed that their “stay-at-home” car had been moved. Also, a hand truck was in a slightly different location.  Having an adult child at home, they thought she had moved them for some reason.

Got into the house and found other items in slightly different positions and their master bedroom door was locked from the inside. They got out of the house and call 911.  It was discovered that the perpetrators were probably still in the house when they walked in.

A large safe in their closet was missing.  It appears that the robbers used the hand truck to move it and put it in their car to move to a different location and then come back.  The safe had every important paper, personal and business.

All keys, watches, etc. were missing, but the one strange thing was that in the woman’s closet one shoe from just about every box was on the floor.  One robber was either a woman or transgender.  That is spooky.  BTW, the size was wrong so only some Uggs were missing.

This Cause Excessive Negative Fallout And Costs Money And Involves Lots Of Time

Remember, the crooks had all the car keys so the cars had to be rekeyed.  That can cost as much as $3000 per car, plus, plus, plus.

My friends had so many problems that they did a research paper on protecting a home.  A few of the 32 suggestions include bolt down a safe, no matter how heavy; engrave your personal property with your driver’s license number – not your SS#; don’t put trip plans on Facebook or other social media. That is like saying “come rob me as I am out of town,” get a dog or fake having a dog; plan a safety exit route; and 27 others.

    Dear Duane:

I always make it a point to read your newsletter, including your personal stories. I especially enjoyed the recent Lone Ranger video you shared. I sent it to a buddy of mine and he couldn’t stop laughing.

Your robbery article reminds me of a time many years ago when our next door neighbors came home from vacation and found all of the wife’s underwear on their bed. They called the police who came and searched all of the rooms in the house. After a few minutes, my neighbors heard the police talking to someone in their bedroom. To their surprise, their paperboy was hiding under the bed. He told the police he was going to take the underwear to his mom. He was able to enter the house with an extra key they had hidden under a brick near the front door.

Small dogs discourage, large dogs detain. Robber got in but Bouvier dog wouldn’t let him out. He was relieved to see police.

What are the other 27 suggestions?

That article was written some time ago and I cannot now remember the other 27 items; and they are lost somewhere but they were good though. I had trouble remembering those five. Nice to know that someone actually reads these words, and I will have to become more detailed.
