Bob Hunt: Columnist, Realtor, Ethics Authority and friend, sent me a photo years ago. Just touches me. Great Commentary. “No one is going to steal or harm this soldier; he protects us and his friend protects him.”
Everyone has a story about “a dog”. On Thanksgiving Eve I watched, “Lassie Come Home”. Now, that was a dog as was Toots, the peddler’s dog. So many stars are in this movie. Roddy, Elizabeth, Donald Crisp, Edmund Gween (Santa Claus in Miracle on 42nd Street), Dame Mae Whitty, Elsa Lanchester, Nigel Bruce, and Pat, the male Collie who played Lassie. I cried.
My protector was Laddie, a mixed but mostly a brown and white Spaniel. Laddie protected me against everything including a car, various farm animals, and to his dismay a rather large porcupine. We were picking needles out of him for hours; by the way, he won the battle. Have always missed Laddie.
