SOME FACTS ABOUT THE NAR SETTLEMENT

FACT NUMBER ONE: Gov Hutchinson, the beloved CAR Attorney and Roving Story Teller, had some interesting information at the Orange County Association of Realtor yearly meeting. Due to the settlement around July new NAR rules will require that Realtors must get a Buyers Agents Contract signed before showing any homes. And possible commissions must be discussed.

FACT NUMBER TWO: Possible commissions cannot be discussed through any MLS service.

FACT NUMBER THREE: For many years NAR has been offering a designation of ABR (Accredited Buyers Representative). The cost currently on the Website is $249. This involves classes or webinars or home study. I do not recommend all NAR designations but I do recommend CRS, CPM, CCIM, ABR and others.

FACT NUMBER FOUR: Recently, Kevin Sears, NAR President, announced that the course is now available for free.

ACTION RECOMMENDED: Sign up for the course now. Start learning and be ready in July.

MYTHS YOU ARE HEARING: One report by Keefe Bruyette Woods, a New York Financial Services Firm, that has been quoted by many publications stated that commissions will be dropping by 30% and the number of agents will be dropping by 60% to 80%. That is an opinion and it was written on October 17, 2023.  DUANE GOMER EDUCATION: I will be publishing a list soon of several competent sources with interesting articles that may be valuable to your business.
