SPRING COLORS

Don’t wait to capture season’s colors in listing pics.

Whether or not you have immediate plans to sell your house, there are some things you can do to be prepared for when you sell your house in the future.

One of the things you can do is take pictures of various aspects of your house that you can store away for future use.

Here are a few opportunities to look for and take advantage of:

Green

With all the rain we’ve had this winter, Southern California has not looked this green in years.

If you have a view of hills, mountains, parks, ravines, or even your own front and backyard, pick a break in the weather and take pictures of the green scenery around your house.

If you have a neighborhood park, playground, hiking trail, or soccer field, take some photos of those as well showing all the glory of the greenery.

Blue

All of this rain has washed away the smoke and smog and given us bright, blue skies. Look for an opportunity to take pictures of your house against a clear blue sky.

You may even see big white puffy clouds now and then that make a great photo as well. The blue sky, combined with the green landscape can result in quite powerful and compelling images.

Pink, Purple and Orange

I cannot recall a more dramatic sunset season than we’ve had this winter.  If you haven’t already snapped a few pics of the sunset from your house, put it on your “to do” list.  You can probably find an angle or two of your house framed by a spectacular sunset, whether the sun sets in front, in back, or beside your house. Combine the sunset sky with the green hills, and you’ve got an instant classic.

Yellow

Soon we will be moving into spring and the wild mustard will be blooming.

This is a fairly short season, so be on the lookout for opportunities as they blossom. I realize you probably don’t have an acre of wild mustard in your back yard, but even if you see the hills and meadows in your local park or on the roadway leading to your house with a yellow blanket of mustard, find the right time and a safe place to capture an image or two.

These seasonal images will come in handy if and when you choose to sell your house, especially for buyers who may not be familiar with Southern California.

Adding these types of images to your listing photos will set you apart from other listings. However, you cannot orchestrate each of these situations on the day your professional photographer shows up for the photo session, so plan ahead and take advantage of these opportunities when they present themselves.
