MLO CE Season has Begun

business team formed of young businessmen standing over a dark background

State Licensed Mortgage Loan Originators (DBO and CalBRE) must complete 8 hours of Continuing Education Every Year

Yes, every year, not every four years like Real Estate License Renewals.

The due date is not varied throughout the year, as the due date for everyone is December 31st.

Well, really a few days before 12/31 to allow the NMLS agency time to process your renewal application.

Based on the fact that we do not do CE classes year round, we conducted surveys of our students who believe the best time to start our live classes is in July. Therefore, we have just started.

I taught my first class of the year at the Orange County Association of Realtors in Laguna Hills on July 19th. Had seven of our speakers there to get their credit and add experience.

Showing no humility, I thought that it was a big success.

Class Is Coming Up FAST

BTW, I will be up North again in September in Carmel on the 25th and Santa Cruz on the 27th.

Love those two cities and looking forward also to our yearly reunion for CE. My next class at OCAR will be August 23rd.

For a full list of our classes you can check the dates at our website: https://duanegomer.com/catalog/mlo/schedule_mlo2017.asp

Interesting Question From One Student

He said that he had heard that people over 70 did not have to take this class. That is not correct for MLO Licenses. This is true only for Real Estate Continuing Education for people who are over 70, have had a license for over 30 years, and never had any sanctions.

I think this is not right for people over 70 who cannot remember where their car keys are and do need some updates, I know, I am one. I digress.

There is no such rule for MLO Licenses.

Had a person over 89 the other day in a class, and he had a license for over 40 years. And he was one of the more energetic and knowledgeable in the class.
See all you youngsters soon.

AND REMEMBER, LIVE CLASSES ARE BETTER, NO EIGHT HOURS ON A COMPUTER, STARTING OVER WHEN YOU LEAVE THE KEYBOARD TOO LONG. QUICK, EASY, AND YOU KNOW YOU WILL DO IT THAT DAY. YOU AND I BOTH HAVE A TENDENCY TO PUT OFF FINISHING AN ONLINE COURSE, AND IT DRAGS ON.

Thank you so much for your appreciated comment. It is rewarding to know that at least one person is reading them. You keep reading and I will keep writing.

    Hello,

I am currently a real estate broker and help people buy and sell their homes. I am interested in also doing loans for my clients as well as I used to be a mortgage broker 10 years ago, am I able to do both as a broker from my home office?

If this is possible, I am interested in a course that will help me pass the exam. Can you please advise me on what I need to do and the steps involved. I am located in the San Diego area.

    Thank you for your time,

Yes, you can do that; you would have to take a 20 Hour NMLS Course and then pass the NMLS exam. It is strongly recommended that you take a crash course before doing so.

Bob Schultz from my office will call you about a live 20 Hour Course or you could try the course online.

Good luck, I think that this is a good idea to diversify.
